Leadership Styles

Leadership
          Styles

What is Leadership? Why do we believe we want leadership in our organizations? What is the foundation for Leadership?

Each of these questions may have many answers; each based upon the thoughts, feelings, and desires of the one asking the questions.

The desire for leadership is a very personal one. It begins with attitude and is developed with, and often in a style that matches, the person's feelings of self-worth. But, it is truly becomes effective only when there is an understanding of the value of others.

Although the styles may be different, leaders generally have similar goals. The problem arises when the styles clash or the goals are different from others within organizations.

Leadership includes understanding leaning styles, listening styles, innovative approaches, and the understanding of the personal desire for order or need for control. Most of all, it requires a willingness to honestly evaluate the process of collaboration within our environment.

Leadership understanding is necessary and applicable to any person or organization. Institutions of education and learning are hungering for better leadership. Communities are searching for leadership to bring stability for those who desire it and change for those who see a need for it. The non-profit sector is developing methods of combining resources and utilizing them more productively. This requires leadership and rethinking of roles. And, of course, the business and corporate community knows of the value of training leaders and building teams.

Each of these avenues requires better understanding of individuals and organizational goals. We can discover how to build better organizations by exploring various facets, from diversity to listening skills, and then applying this information. There is a synergy required and easily developed.

We at Arnold Lewis Associates, inc. believe in basing the training on solid and practical information, using discovery and experiential learning methods, and blending this training into a system that will benefit your particular organization.
